Total Trial Management¶
Total Trial Management manages a dog trial from the receipt of the first entry to the delivery of the scored catalog. It is written for the Trial Secretary.
This manual assumes you know the rules of the trial you are running and have read the relevant AKC Trial Secretary Manual. It explains how to use the program, not how to be a Trial Secretary.
Note
The program manages an unlimited number of events in the same database, and up to four days for each event.
Tutorials¶
If you have never run a trial with this program, work through the tutorials in order. Each one follows a trial through one stage, from setting it up to handing the scored catalog to the judge.
- Setting up a trial
Create the event and its days, put the classes on each day, assign the judges and set what the entries cost.
- Taking entries
Owners, dogs and entries, from opening day until entries close. Outline only so far.
- Day of trial
Scribe sheets, scoring through the day, placements and the marked catalog. Draft.
Reference¶
Each menu and screen described on its own. Use it to look something up once you know roughly where you are.
- The menu bar
How the menus are laid out, and which one covers what.
- Setup menu
Creating events, and recording the club, judges and secretary running them.
- Events menu
Choosing which trial everything else in the program acts on.
- Check Entries
Everything the AKC export needs and a trial has not got, listed before it matters.
- Judge’s book packet
Book covers, judge’s books and award placement sheets as one PDF.
- The judging schedule
Working out when each class is judged, and joining the result to the club’s program document in Word.
- Scribe sheets by paper color
Assigning a paper colour to each class, and printing from the scheme.
- Looking an address up
Filling an owner’s address from a short list instead of typing it, and setting up the key it needs.
- The score display
Live scores on screens at the rings, in browser windows that need nothing installed.
- Publishing results to your web site
Putting the day’s results on the club’s web site, kept up to date while the trial runs.
Which application am I running?¶
The program is built as several applications that share one design: AKC Agility, AKC Obedience and Rally, Conformation, Herding and Scent Work. The title bar tells you which one is open, along with the organisation and the event you have selected:
Agility OpenTTM - AKC - Lyons Township / GRCI
These tutorials are written for AKC Agility. Most of the workflow is the same in the other applications; where a screen differs, the reference section says so.
